The Morris M42
Introducing A New Deck Configuration for the Morris M42
Morris Yachts is pleased to introduce a new deck option for the very successful M42. Like the M36 deck, the new M42 deck features a trunk cabin with three windows instead of four. This option will be perfect for those who love the look of the M36 but want the larger interior of the M42. The self-tacking jib track has been moved off the cabin top maximizing the foredeck area and restoring the deck sweeper concept. The impact of the shorter trunk cabin on the interior is limited to the area forward of the mast.
The M42 boasts 6’2” standing headroom and features a large salon, galley, head and forward v-berth. The interior is impeccably finished in Herreshoff style; white bulkheads and solid cherry trim with high gloss varnish. Whether you are setting out sandwiches or preparing a hot meal, the galley is complete with a polished Force 10 two-burner propane stove with thermostat controlled oven, 12v refrigeration, Corian countertop, polished SS sink and hot and cold pressure water. The enclosed head includes a Vacuflush toilet, cherry counter top varnished to a mirror finish, SS washbasin, hot and cold pressurized water, and shower with overhead hatch (with built-in Sky Screens/shades) for ventilation.
In the salon, the port and starboard settees are designed for comfortable lounging or sleeping. The cherry drop-leaf table provides an area for comfortable indoor dining. The six large trunk cabin windows add to the feeling of openness and airiness. Forward of the salon is a comfortable v-berth or optional centerline berth. The impact of the shorter trunk cabin on the interior is limited to the area forward of the mast.
As with all M-Series yachts, sail handling has been thoroughly engineered for simplicity, reliability, and ease of use. The self-tacking jib track has been moved off the cabin top maximizing the foredeck area and restoring the deck sweeper concept. All control lines, sheets and halyards have been led below the deck to the custom designed control/winch pods located in the cockpit, leaving the deck clear, safe and aesthetically pleasing. Lewmar electric self-tailing primary winches are standard. The decks are uncluttered; the only sheets running above deck are for the cruising gennaker that is standard on this boat. These are led aft to a location handy to the helmsperson and are controlled by self-tailing manual winches. A mechanical vang and self-contained hydraulic backstay adjuster are standard. All of these well-thought out and carefully engineered features plus the carbon fiber mast, the carbon fiber spade rudder, performance shoal draft bulb keel, and rod rigging contribute to the high performance, maximum stability, comfortable and convenient single handing sailing that will make the M42 so satisfying to sail.
To date Morris has sold 19 M42s since its launch in 2006. The M42s ease of use, striking good looks, impeccable S&S pedigree, outstanding craftsmanship, uncompromised performance in all conditions, plus standing headroom below and full cruising amenities throughout makes the M42 the perfect boat for all occasions – the vacation cruiser, the weekender, overnighter or daysailer with friends and family; just the two of you or for a quiet solo outing. The M42 is as rewarding to own as she is to sail.
The Morris Advantage
Unlike dealers or other builders where the base price often excludes necessary items like carbon fiber mast, sails, bottom paint, exterior/interior varnish, marine toilet, even the name and hail on the transom, Morris Yachts offers all of these items in the base price in a “turn key” standard package. Of course, you can further customize your boat to meet your specific needs…..or simply rely on the experience of the Morris project managers and buy the standard boat perfectly equipped to sail away with no added options needed. Either way, you will quickly know the true cost of your boat and any details surrounding construction with no surprises.
Morris Ownership Extra: North U and You
Included with ownership of the M42 to further enhance the Morris experience is an exclusive, three day on-the-water sail training program aboard your new M42 with a coach from North Sails University. Each customized program will be designed by North U to match the needs, skills and requests of each individual owner. Please click here for more information on North U.
