Annapolis Sailboat Show '09
In the world of East Coast Boatshows, the Annapolis Sailboat Show is the biggest and the best! It is also the most challenging logistically, and the amount of details to be covered is truly staggering! The first step is getting the truck loaded with all the sales paraphernalia, which this year was taken care of by both our capable sales assistant Molly Bryan and our Brokerage sales director James Allen. This year there was not an inch to spare due to fact the the truck also had to tow the M29! Shortly after the truck was packed, James and Chris Murray, our Service General Manager, rented a car and drove to Greenwich to board the M52 and deliver her to Annapolis, a roughly two day run. Meanwhile, after completing another event in Greenwich, our top-notch sales team, including Eric Roos, Wythe Ingebritson and Prent Weathers, hauled, de-rigged, and packed the M29 for the trip south to Annapolis.
Once arriving in Annapolis, the M29 had to be launched and rigged, and all boats had to be moved into the show area. Simultaneously, the truck was unloaded at the site of the show by James and Chris, who carried, rolled or dragged all the necessary parts and pieces out onto our designated float. The final stage of preparation then took place... setting up the MY tent and display, which took all of Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday is the day of catch up, as we all set up our temporary workstations around the kitchen table of our rented home, and attempt to catch up on the "usual" duties of our jobs that we have not been able to get to, and that we will not be able to get to until the show ends.
What makes the entire process possible, more than anything else, is the incredible group of people involved. Each aspect, no matter how stressful, is handled with a smile and a professional attitude, which truly displays the spirit of Morris Yachts!!!
