Chris at the helm of a Morris 46

Hello MY Friends,
My name is Chris Murray, and I am the Service General Manager for Morris Yachts. Many of you I may have met, and the rest I look forward to meeting as our paths cross either on land or sea. I am truly excited to initiate this blog so that each of you can get a chance to know both the outstanding individuals that make up the Morris Service crew, as well as the inner-workings of what we do, and what makes our yards tick.

I have been with MY for nearly two years, initially occupying the position of Service Writer and then moving on to my current role. I was born and raised in Farmington, ME, and was fortunate to spend the summers sailing on Clearwater Lake (where I developed a keen sense of fluky wind), and the winters skiing at Sugarloaf. Through the Sugarloaf connection I befriended a peer from Southwest Harbor and thereby established my MDI connection, which would lay dormant for twenty years until my wife and I, now blessed with three incredible boys, decided that that was the town in which to raise our family. Relocating to the island in 2001, I was employed for the following 5 years by The Hinckley Company as a a carpenter, a charter fleet manager, a jet boat trainer, and project manager, all of which prepared me to undertake my current position. I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Morris Family, and the accompanying picture displays it all... at the helm of a Morris 46 during a spring '09 delivery, close hauled in 15kts of NW breeze doing 8kts, knowing intimately the people and processes it has taken to build, maintain, and support this magnificent vessel. To know that I am a part of the company that can make such such things happen is certainly a great feeling, and one that I am truly grateful for!
