21' Custom Cape Cod Cat Boat

Tom Kyle II was built in Nova Scotia for a Swiss couple who have a summer home there. The boat has seen very little use, three or four times a year since launch. Tom Kyle II has been maintained by the builder since completion. An annual maintenance program has been carried out each spring, plus Tom Kyle II has been kept in a weatherproof shelter when ashore and is in like new condition.
CONSTRUCTION:
The boat is traditionally built. The hull is white pine over white oak and is silicon bronze fastened. The deck is sprung teak with a mahogany covering board over plywood decks. The rub rail and toe rails are white oak as is the transom. The cabin sides and the cockpit combing are red oak. Tom Kyle II has a full underbody with drop iron keel and a transom hung rudder. The centerboard is 3/8" steel giving the boat added stability.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
This yacht sleeps two. The cabin has two 6'6" bunks, an enclosed head and galley with sink and alcohol stove and cupboard space. Brass cabin and reading lights compliment the mahogany interior. The centerboard trunk supports a folding mahogany table. Four windows and a skylight provide good natural light in the cabin. There is plenty of storage under the bunks and in a small closet forward.
The cockpit features a mahogany steering consol with engine and navigational instruments (wind speed, depth and speed log). There are mahogany seats with teak inlay and mahogany cockpit staving and cap rail, plus a raised mahogany and teak engine box which doubles as a cockpit table and support for a binnacle compass. The cabin hatch and doors leading into the cabin are also mahogany. The cabin top is Awlgrip finished and the brightwork is finished with Epifanies varnish.
ENGINE:
1999 Yanmar 2 cylinder 16 HP inboard diesel. It has a cruising speed of 5 knots and the maximum speed is 6 knots. The fuel tank is stainless steel and has a 15 gallon capacity.
ELECTRICAL:
The electrical system is maintained by two 12 volt batteries, alternator, selector switch and circuit breakers. The yacht is equipped with cabin and navigation lights.
SAILS AND RIGGING:
The mast boom and gaff are Douglas fir with stainless steel rigging. Management of the Oceanus cloth sail is assisted by a Lewmar winch and Spinlock handling gear. Running rigging is braided and twisted nylon with Dauphinee and Sons ash blocks.
EQUIPMENT:
The ground tackle is a Kingston Plow anchor with galvanized chain rode and braided nylon line. The chain is led through a brass hawse pipe and stored below deck in a stainless steel cable locker. A second anchor is also onboard. The boat is equipped with fenders, lines, ladder and searchlight. The boat is also equipped as required by the Canadian Coast Guard standards.
The boat is stored on a launch trailer specifically designed and built for this boat.
