ASPARA, designed by C.W. “Chuck” Paine, is one of the very fine Whistler 32 series built by the widely regarded Able Marine,. She has a shoal draft full keel underbody offering the ultimate in protection from lobster traps, and floats in just over 3 ½’ of water with her board up. With her highly efficient centerboard lowered she becomes a powerful sailer to weather. Built with features normally found on larger yachts, such as deep bulwarks and dual anchor rollers, ASPARA is a true blue water-capable long distance cruiser. Her lovely interior reflects her Maine heritage with a classic Herreshoff motif. Her seagoing galley and useful quarterberth, combined with a conventional forward cabin, large enclosed head, commodious salon, and full sized nav. station provide tremendous interior volume in a well thought-out plan.

CONSTRUCTION: Hand laid solid fiberglass hull. Full length keel w/internal lead ballast housing a pivoting FRP centerboard. Centerboard is operated via a stainless steel cable led to a reel winch mounted in the cockpit. Keel-mounted rudder with stainless steel shaft and reinforcement. A deep molded-in bulwark with teak cap provides safety on deck.
