"Velvet" is a Custom Aluminum world cruiser designed by an experienced sailor and built in conjunction with the Hutting Yacht Yard in Makkum Holland. Beautiful varnished mahogany interior with Harlingen tile accents. This boat has been lightly sailed and is in very good condition.

Hull:

The Hull is made of ALMg 4.5 MN W 28 profiles 50 and 51 St. Bottom skinplates 8 mm (till waterline), 2 meters from bow to bow (keel till waterline) skinplates of 10 mm, other skinplates 6 mm. Deck, superstructure and cockpit 5 mm skinplates, ribs and beams T-profile 55x32x6mm, stringers 50x8 mm, bulkhead 5 mm, 1 watertight bulkhead in the forepeak. Draining ducts 90-70 mm, mast steps 100-80 mm, prop shaft gland 90-70 mm, rudder trunk100-80 mm, rudder stock 80 mm. Engine foundation 8 mm, engine foundation top plate 100x20 mm. All external welds on the hull are ground to a smooth metal finish, offering no visible grooves or pock marks prior to paint filler application. The spacing of frames (ribs) on the hull and rudder is 400 mm. The skin of the rudder blade is welded to the ribs, where required by rosette-welds. The hull is a true S-frame long keeler. Fuel and water tanks are equipped with stabilizing bulkheads and manhole covers. The water tanks are lined with the International coating system. Chain plates, coving boards, rubbing strakes, bow fittings; hatch boxes and chain locker are aluminum. All stainless steel parts/fittings like pulpits, stanchions and guardrails are insulated from the aluminum. The optimally shaped aluminum rudder of ALMg 4.5 Mn uses generously dimensioned delrin bearings. The lower bearing mount of the rudder shaft is removable to facilitate easy service or repair conditions. The starboard and portside each offers 3 aluminum, welded to the hull, opening port holes (two per side in the owner's cabin): 8 mm safety glass, depth of flange = 50 mm, the opening in the hull = 403 x 215 mm with 4x 55 mm radias.

Paintwork: The hull is covered with an International System two component epoxy coating inside, as well as outside. The hull above the waterline, deck and superstructure are painted with 1 layer of Intergard EPA 629/631 (125 mu), 1 or 2 layers of Perfection 709 finishing paint (37 mu). The underwater ship is covered with 1 layer of Intergrad EPA 629/631 (125 mu), 1 layer of Intergrad EPA 630/631 (125 mu), 1 layer Interprotect (40 mu) and is finished with 2 layers (50 mu) of anti-fouling. The colors for the hull = midnight blue, deck, pilothouse and cockpit = Matterhorn white: underwater-ship = light blue; there is a midnight blue divider of ½ waterline width separating the waterline and underwater-ship colors.

Deck and Superstructure:

Deck: The deck is covered with treadmaster. The teak covered ledge of the hull is substantially integrated into the deck structure, so as too provide a solid base for the stainless steel bollards. Fuel fill cap is located on the starboard side approximately mid-ship. Names for all deck fill caps are engraved for easy identification.

Pilothouse: The pilothouse is covered with Treadmaster. The three piece windshield and the three windows on either side of the pilothouse are of safety glass, with a smoke colored tint and classified to comply with international standards or "Unlimited Ocean Voyages". The same applies to the structural integrity of the pilothouse. The entrance to the pilothouse from the cockpit is via a sliding door and a sliding hatch is flanked on both sides by an extension, in the form of a wave deflector. Thus providing the space for the mounting of a bank of navigational instruments. The door, sliding hatch, garage and deflector are in high gloss varnished mahogany. Two Goiot Hatches provide ventilation.

Cockpit: The seating space in the cockpit is teak covered. The cockpit floor is also teak covered with two 70 mm inside dia. Drain pipes. The top of the surrounding backrest is covered in high gloss varnished mahogany and ends at roof level. With the exception of the starboard side, winch handle pockets are situated in the backrest surface. The mechanical steering column operates via a double ring 30" dia. rudder wheel. A single lever engine control is on the starboard side of the column. Engine instruments, ignition, starter, horn button are placed on the starboard side of the column in the cockpit.

Insulation: The walls are insulated with 30 mm polyethylene panels. The insulation extends from the top to the water line, excluding the forepeak and aft stowage space.

Engine: Schwarting MTU, five cylinder Marine Diesel, Type 5R 058 AX61, 59 KW at 3300 rev/min. Exhaust with water jacket, water lock and silencer. Cooling water system equipped with weed filter. The electrical system is 24v and 110v. The electric circuit is double-insulated. The four-point elastic engine mounts are equipped to withstand 360 degrees capsizing without relocation of the engine and transmission assembly or damage to the power-train, such as a bent prop.-shaft. The double-insulation wires are located in cable tracks. The Morse single lever engine controls are to starboard of the two steering wheels. The starter battery is a 24v/110 Amp/h or one 200 Amp/h battery.

Engine Compartment: The engine compartment (located under the pilothouse floor) is well accessible, well lit, and well ventilated. The surrounding area is insulated with flame resistant, non toxic, noise absorbing material. An electric fan provides additional ventilation to the engine room. The surrounding walls are of aluminum. The ceiling is marine plywood covered with teak and noise absorbing material. The hot water heating system is located in the engine compartment. The fresh air ducts are substantial. A 50 liter aluminum day tank for fuel, also fed by an emergency hand pump, is located high enough to force feed the diesel engine. The battery is placed in close proximity to the alternators.

Sea valves: All sea valves are heavy welded in aluminum. Ball valves are polypropylene.
