ACCOMODATIONS:
SIDEKICK's interior is classic Herreshoff finish trimmed in cherry with satin varnish. Her forward cabin features a large v-berth double bunk aft of a bulkhead with access to the chainlocker . The forward cabin is completed by extensive storage, both hanging locker and drawers, and an en suite head. With three opening port lights and a large Bomar reversible overhead hatch, this cabin is both bright and well ventilated. The forward head has an integral shower, Crown II electric head, two lockers with louvered cherry doors, large mirror, and ventilation provided by overhead dorade and opening port light. The main salon is furnished with dark green Ultra-suede cushions, has a u-shaped dinette to port with a large fixed table with fold out leaves, and a settee to starboard. There is excellent storage outboard and behind the seatbacks. Behind starboard settee is a built in 13" RCA Television with RCA VCR. Two large Bomar reversible hatches brighten this area. The Nav-desk is aft of the main salon and to starboard, facing outboard. The desk is spacious with a large lockable lift top for chart storage and includes a swing away seat. Opposite is the galley, with twin stainless sinks, refrigerator and separate freezer, Corian countertops, three burner Force 10 propane stove with oven and microwave oven. Aft of the galley is the aft stateroom with a double berth, hanging locker, dresser and custom stowage for charts. To starboard of the companionway is the head, complete with separate stall shower (with a custom stainless bar for hanging foul weather gear), stainless steel sink, Corian countertop, large storage locker and Raritan manual head.
CONSTRUCTION:
Hull: Solid fiberglass. Initial construction begins with application of 18-20 mils of gelcoat and two skin coats of resin rich fiberglass mat laminated and hand rolled with Hydrex Vinylester Resin. Water line to shear consists of 14 layers (two layers of 1.5 oz mat as a skin, ten alternating layers of unidirectional glass, with waterline to centerline having two additional layers). Centerline reinforcement, including the keel and skeg area, consists of additional 12 alternating layers of bi-axial fiberglass (total of 26 layers and approx. centerline thickness of 1.5". Two fiberglass reinforced longitudinal stringers.
Deck: Gelcoat and Hydrex Vinylester Resin as applied to hull. 1" Baltec end grain balsa core except in way of hatches, genoa tracks, stanchion bases, mast partners and other deck hardware where solid fiberglass replaces the core material. One piece construction with molded fiberglass bulwark. All hardware locations are drilled, tapped, bedded, and thru bolted completely through the deck. Trunk cabin sides are solid fiberglass. The deck is permanently bonded to the hull using a horizontal integral laminated hull shelf to which the deck is bedded in 3M 5200 Marine Sealant and thru bolted on 8" centers.
DECK AND HULL:
Hull: The exterior topsides are an Awlgrip finish of Morris Blue with a single white boot stripe and a white cove stripe. Deck, cabin, and cockpit surfaces are of white gelcoat with grey nonskid areas.
Deck Hardware: SIDEKICK is fitted with a custom hard dodger, with three opening ports on the forward side, and a flat mounting surface on the top to mount solar panels. Double stainless steel wire lifelines with port and starboard opening gates amidships. A three-piece SS boarding ladder mounts at either port or starboard gate. Stainless steel chocks and cleats for docking lines at bow, stern and amidships port and starboard. Double stainless steel anchor roller fitted with 45 #CQR and 44# Bruce anchors. Simpson Lawrence dual direction windlass with foot switches on the foredeck Additional chain pipe for secondary anchor chain/rode. Inner forestay tang and tack fittings. Four stainless steel dorade vents with stainless steel guards (on forward set) provide ventilation to forward cabin, forward head and main cabin areas. Stainless steel deck fills for water, waste and fuel. On deck varnished teak include cap rails and cockpit table and drink holder.
PROPULSION & FUEL SYSTEM:
Engine is a Yanmar 4JH 2E, 4 cylinder, fresh water cooled diesel engine rated at 56 hp. Engine is mounted on four flexible rubber mounts bolted to the fiberglass engine beds integral to hull. Engine is located under the galley counter in an extremely well insulated (sound and heat) engine compartment. Excellent access to engine area through removable panels. Drive train is a one and one half-inch stainless steel shaft mounted through an Aquadrive system for vibration damping. Dripless shaft seal system with spare seal mounted on shaft. The shaft is fitted with a three blade 20" Gori folding propeller with "Spur" line cutters. Fuel tanks are of aluminum construction with a capacity of 115 gallons. Fuel filter(s) are a Racor dual system with change-over valve. Fuel tank level monitored using WEMA gauge system at nav-station. Primary fuel tank is located under the main cabin dinette platform and is easily accessed for maintenance. Secondary fuel tank is mounted under forward v-berth. A 12V transfer pump and filter system on the fwd tank allows fuel to be circulated for cleaning or moved to the aft tank.

SYSTEMS:
Water: Fresh water storage total capacity is 150 gallons stored in three separate tanks. Additional fresh water is available through use of the Sea Recovery Watermaker with a capacity of 25 gallons per hour. There is also a deck scupper water collection system that can (when needed) collect deck rainwater and divert it to the vessels water tanks. Atlantic stainless steel hot water storage tank with 10-gallon capacity. Hot water supplied by engine heat transfer or 110-volt AC system. Hot and cold pressure water system supplies water to forward head sink basin faucet/showerhead, galley sink basin, aft head sink basin faucet, aft showerhead, and cockpit shower. Manually supplied (foot-pump) fresh water at galley and both head sink basins. Manually supplied (foot-pump) salt water at the galley sink basin. Anchor/ deck wash down system plumbed for salt water with spigots mounted at the bow and stern.
Waste: Raritan Crown II electric head forward and Raritan manual marine head aft. Discharge line is equipped with Y-valve to allow for discharge overboard or to a common waste holding tank. Waste holding tank capacity is 18 gallons. Holding tank may be emptied through the waste deck fitting or may be discharged overboard using an electric pump.
Galley Equipment: Two-basin stainless steel sink. Well-insulated icebox divided into separate refrigerator and freezer compartments. Refrigeration cooling supplied by two separate Sea Frost refrigeration units; one engine driven and the other a shore assist AC system. Galley stove is a Force-10, 3-burner propane stove /oven. Propane supply is two, 10 lb. Propane cylinders stored in a sealed and ventilated locker. Propane supply is controlled using a Xintex LPG gas solenoid control and fume detection unit.
Climate Control: Interior cabin temperature is controlled a Marine Air Systems 16,000 BTU reverse cycle heat and air-conditioning system (run from shore power or the generator). Additional heat is supplied by an Espar D5L Diesel Fired Cabin Heater with outlets throughout the boat.

GROUND TACKLE & DOCKING GEAR:
- Primary anchor system consists of a 45lb CQR anchor with 120' of 5/16" HT ISO galvanized chain and 100' of 5/8" three-strand nylon rode spliced to chain. The primary chain is lead through the chain gypsy of the anchor windlass and directly to the chain locker.
- Secondary anchor system consists of a 44lb Bruce anchor with 30' of 5/16" HT ISO galvanized chain and 200' of 5/8" three strand nylon rode spliced to chain. A deck pipe is mounted forward of the windlass to access the secondary chain/rode. 70# Luke storm anchor is mounted in chocks under cabin sole along with 170' of spare 5/16 HT chain. The chain locker is divided athwartship to facilitate the storage of both primary and secondary chain/rode. Windlass is a Simpson Lawrence, vertical dual direction, 12-volt DC electric windlass with up and down foot switches.
