Cuyler Morris President of Morris Yachts announced today that launch of Circe, the custom Morris 57 will be celebrated at the Morris Service yard in Northeast Harbor on Thursday, August 28th. The construction of this stellar yacht was the collaboration of New England’s finest marine establishments – the boat was designed by Fontaine Design Group, of Portsmouth, RI; the hull, deck and structural bulkheads were constructed by Goetz Custom Boats, of Bristol RI and the interior, paint and rigging was completed by Morris Yachts. Construction of the hull tooling began in November 2006 at Goetz. The hull was delivered to Morris on August 2007 and the deck arrived in November 2007.

Cuyler and his family will set sail from Maine on June 15th for the Great Lakes to race the 100th Anniversary of the Chicago Mackinac Race!

Morris Yachts’ first 45-footer, built in 2000, was designed by Chuck Paine toprovide a luxurious cruising interior within a stiff and lightweight speedster for the purposes of ocean racing. It was a successful design on the race course, but the deep draft limited coastal-cruising destinations.A new Morris 45seeks to balance spirited performance with a more cruising-friendly design. Chuck Paine’s beautifully fair hull,with its long waterline, remains intact in the new iteration,but the deck mold, keel,and interior have been completely redesigned.

Morris Yachts has been invited to participate in the 2008 Greenwich Harbor Yacht Showcase. This exclusive event will be held at the Delamar, a small luxury hotel in the heart of Greenwich, CT. Morris will be showing the Morris M42 and M36 plus Next Boat a new Morris 45. Sea trials will be available by appointment only. Show hours are Saturday and Sunday May 10-11th 11am-7pm. Cruising World and Sailing World magazines have nominated the Morris 45 for 14th Annual Boat of the Year contest. Judging took place during the US States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Md. Cuyler Morris, President of Morris Yachts flew down to conduct the test sails after the show.

Cuyler Morris and family aboard Morris 45 Firefly dominated their class at the 2007 Antigua Race Week. Firefly swept the five race series and came away 1st in the Cruising I Division and 3rd Overall in the fleet of more than 200 boats. Firefly earned line honors the last day.
