Good news! Maine Cuts Boat Sales Tax for Non-Residents!

Maine Gov. John E. Baldacci recently signed into law a provision that ensures non-resident boaters will pay less in sales tax on boat purchases in the state.

The new law, which takes effect Aug. 1, significantly reduces the amount of Maine sales tax that will need to be paid by non-residents who choose to purchase and keep a boat in Maine, the Maine Marine Trades Association reports.

Morris Yachts Chosen by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to Build The New Leadership 44 Training Vessels

Cuyler Morris, President of Morris Yachts confirmed today that Morris had won the contract over several other prestigious yards to build 4 Leadership 44 training vessels.

The new 44-foot David Pedrick-designed vessels will replace the decades old Luders sailing craft. Morris will begin the construction by the end of this year. Morris was selected over Hinckley, Tartan, Goetz and Pearson.

Morris Boat Show, July 17-19, Northeast Harbor, Maine

Morris Yachts will host the fifth annual Morris Boat Show at their service yard in Northeast Harbor, Maine, July 17-19. Open to the public, this event will showcase dozens of Morris Yachts on the docks and in the sheds.

This year the show will feature full line up of M-Series yachts. The new flagship M52 and the new M29 join the M36 (59 hulls sold to date) and the M42 (18 hulls sold to date).

Morris 57 Launched!

Cuyler Morris President of Morris Yachts announced today that launch of Circe, the custom Morris 57 will be celebrated at the Morris Service yard in Northeast Harbor on Thursday, August 28th. The construction of this stellar yacht was the collaboration of New England’s finest marine establishments – the boat was designed by Fontaine Design Group, of Portsmouth, RI; the hull, deck and structural bulkheads were constructed by Goetz Custom Boats, of Bristol RI and the interior, paint and rigging was completed by Morris Yachts. Construction of the hull tooling began in November 2006 at Goetz. The hull was delivered to Morris on August 2007 and the deck arrived in November 2007.
