Eric Roos sent this report from his week in The Netherlands after attending the Sparkman & Stephens Annual European meeting in Enkhuizen.

“Just a short summary of what has been going on over here at this awesome event. Elliot Cohen and I sailed Marietje M3625 from Friesland (Sneek) through the canals and locks and across the Isomere to the historic city of Enkhuizen on Wednesday (6 hour sail). On Thursday, I met with editors of a British pub for a boat test of the M36. Of course they loved the boat!

On Friday, we raced Marietje with owner Geert Douma, M36 owner Elliot Cohen, a friend of Geert’s and myself. We had a great breeze and a very good start and everything worked flawlessly (jybes with the gennaker; rounding marks with only water pressure keeping boats from colliding etc!) We finished 4th over all with 29 boats racing. It was a very impressive sight to see at the start and the downwind legs with all the chutes flying on the Isomere! A sight burned in my mind for a very long time! Geert was very psyched to receive a prize in the race!

Saturday I met with clients of Wythe and Greg and hope to make progress with both toward a sale or a sail…..

Sunday, Elliot and I sail back to Friesland and will celebrate Elliots 75th Birthday with the Douma’s in Sneek!

I’ll be back in the good ol’USA on Monday! Cheers to all! Eric
